Whatever writes your strategies — Claude Code, Codex, Cursor — can call Ziplime directly through MCP, so the numbers come from the engine instead of from the model.

Install and connect

Claude Code:
Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf or any client that launches stdio servers:
If you installed into a virtualenv, put the full path to its ziplime executable in command — desktop apps don’t see your shell’s PATH.

Tools

The local server exposes 14 tools: check_strategy_code is a fast syntax-tree check that runs before a backtest is spent on the code. It blocks only on certain failures (a syntax error, a missing handle_data, a hook with the wrong signature) and reports likely mistakes — a missing await, .iloc on a Polars frame — as advisories that never block a run. Backtests started through MCP use next-bar fills by default.

Safety

  • The server has no order tool. Live trading runs from your own terminal, never through a tool.
  • It does run the code the agent writes, on your machine, with your permissions. Read SECURITY.md in the repository before pointing an agent at it.

Local and hosted

There is also a hosted server at https://ziplime.limex.com/mcp with professional US data, screening and factor research. The two run the same engine under different code contracts: Each server gives the agent its own rules through get_strategy_language_reference, so an agent connected to both writes the right code for each.
